Following their successful relationship, they opened Moran’s Restaurant and Café in 1995, which was similarly well regarded on the food scene. Moran’s was named the best new restaurant in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide in 1995. Moran began his apprenticeship at La Belle Helene Restaurant in Roseville, on Sydney’s North Shore, where he learned the technique of classical French cuisine.

Moran is a participant on Singapore Airlines’ international culinary jury. He is responsible for creating meals for Singapore Airlines passengers. Moran is well-known for his work as a celebrity chef on several TV culinary programs. On February 6, 2008, The Chopping Block, a television program, debuted on the Nine Network. It was created by Granada Productions, and Moran himself served as the host. It had two seasons, each with eight episodes. Moran began serving as a judge on MasterChef Australia’s third season in 2011.

On September 3, 2014, The Lifestyle Channel on Foxtel debuted the second season of the television series Paddock to Plate, which also starred Moran. Moran and Maggie were announced as the judges for the second season of The Great Australian Bake Off in April 2015, which began airing on LifeStyle Food on 13 October, and Moran was named a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours for “significant service to the tourism and hospitality industries, as well as charitable organisations” in June 2022.
