In 1995, he began his career as a researcher for the women’s magazine Bella. He was promoted to commissioning editor two years later. In the late 1990s, Daubney worked as the features editor for the men’s lifestyle magazine FHM. He went on to become the editor of page3.com for the tabloid newspaper The Sun.
He then became the deputy editor of the men’s lifestyle magazine Loaded in February 2003, after writing articles for the sports section of the tabloid newspaper News of the World. He was promoted to editor in September of that year. He organized a straight pride march in 2007 because he felt heterosexuality was being “undermined” and becoming “unfashionable.”
Daubney left Loaded in November 2010, and after-sales had plummeted from an average of 457,318 copies per month in the second half of 1998 to just 53,591. He was the magazine’s longest-serving editor. He became a “stay-at-home dad” after leaving the magazine, amid reports that he suffered from postnatal depression after the birth of his first child.
Daubney spent six months in 2013 filming Porn on the Brain, a Channel 4 documentary about pornography addiction. He is a supporter of the men’s rights movement.
