Storyline

Sloppy slacker Dexter Reed goes for a joyride in his mother’s car and ends up in a car crash with his instructor. Dexter is in danger of going to jail because he lacks a driver’s license, money, and car insurance. He ends up drowning his sorrows with milkshakes at Good Burger after being fired from the fresh and soon-to-open Mondo Burger for trying the patience of the owner and manager, Kurt Bozwell. Dexter is on the verge of giving up when he encounters and reluctantly befriends Ed, the multi-tasking cashier, who is plain and absent-minded yet charming and lovable.

Dexter and Ed are Decent Burger employees who discover Dexter’s shady money sabotage on Ed. Ed and Dexter become suspicious when a dog refuses to eat a discarded Mondo Burger in favor of a discarded Good Burger and decide to investigate. They discover that the burgers have been chemically enriched with Triampathol, a prohibited food additive. Kurt has them sent to the Demented Hills asylum in order to prevent them from exposing their wrongdoing. Otis, an elderly employee sleeping on the premises, catches them red-handed, prompting Kurt to commit him as well.

Storyline

Tia Landry is an articulate twin from Detroit’s inner city, and her adoptive mother Lisa is a seamstress. Tamera Campbell is the boy-crazy twin from the suburbs, where her adoptive father Ray owns a prosperous limousine company. The twins meet their biological father, Matt Sullivan, in the sixth-season episode “Father’s Day,” a white popular photojournalist who never married their mother, Racelle Gavin, because they never had the chance. Matt wasn’t allowed to see the girls after she died because he couldn’t prove he was their father, and when he later looked for them, he never found them because they had been adopted separately. Tia and Tamera have found steady boyfriends.
