Before moving to Florida, Spain worked as a news reporter for WEWS-TV, the local ABC station in Cleveland. From 1996 to 2000, he co-anchored the 5:00 p.m. newscast with Macie Jepson at WJW-TV, the local Fox TV affiliate. He would also work as a fill-in anchor/reporter for the 10:00 p.m. weekday and weekend newscasts. He subsequently relocated to the Jacksonville market in 2000, initially working for First Coast News. While at FCN, Mark co-anchored First Coast News at 7. He resigned from his duties there in 2007 to anchor CBS 47 News at 6 and FOX 30 News at 10 on WTEV and WAWS, respectively. He replaced Russell Motley. After the duopoly merged into one brand, Action News, Mark was promoted to host all nightly newscasts alongside Paige Kelton. Paige Kelton’s last broadcasts occurred on or around September 1, 2014, following a dramatic News Department shakeup led by Mark Spain. Spain is now an anchor at Lynchburg, Virginia’s WSET (television). Spain now anchors the weekday newscasts at 5:30, 6, and 11 p.m.
