Mark Chao is a model and actor from Taiwan. He made his television debut in Black & White (2009), for which he received the Golden Bell Award for Best Actor. Chao began his career as the lead in the award-winning Taiwanese television series ‘Scorpion Hero’ (‘Black and White’) as Southern District Bureau of Forensic Officer Wu Ying Xiong.

Mark Chao began his career in 2009 as the star of the award-winning Taiwanese television series ‘Scorpion Hero’ (‘Black and White’), as Southern District Bureau of Forensic Officer Wu Ying Xiong. It was shot in Taiwan and first aired on Public Television Service from April 11 to June 27, 2009. He was also cast as Mosquito in the Taiwanese gangster film ‘Monga’ in 2009. It was released on 29 January 2010 at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival and on 5 February 2010 in Taiwan, grossing more than NT$250 million (HK$61 million), making it one of the most successful domestic productions. His second film, ‘Black & White Episode I: The Dawn of Assault,’ in which he reprised the role of Wu Ying Xiong, was a box-office success.
Love’, his third film in which he starred as Mark, was released almost simultaneously in Taiwan, Mainland China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia in February 2012. It was not only a NT$180 million box office success in Taiwan, but it also became the highest-grossing Taiwanese film in Mainland China. His fourth film, ‘First Time,’ was released on June 8, 2012, in the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It is a Chinese romantic film in which he plays Gong Ning / Lu Xia. It was followed by the equally successful ‘Caught in the Web’ and ‘I Love You to Love Me’ the same year. ‘So Young’ and ‘Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon’ were both released in 2013.
