From April 1996 to December 2007, Hardy co-hosted Melbourne’s 3RRR radio show Best of the Brat on Tuesday nights as Holly C. The program was dubbed “the most immature show on Australian radio.” Almost immediately after leaving RRR, she began co-hosting the breakfast show on Triple J, the ABC’s youth radio channel, with Robbie Buck and Lindsay “The Doctor” McDougall in January 2008. Hardy announced her departure from Triple J in December 2009 to focus on her literary career.

Hardy started her career as an actress in the entertainment industry when she was young. She appeared in shows like The Henderson Kids II, All Together Now, Neighbours, and A Country Practice, as well as in a number of television commercials, before becoming a scriptwriter.
In 2005, Solid co-composed and delivered a 22-episode show series for the Seven Organization called Lone survivor. After one season, the series was canceled due to its inability to attract viewers for its prime-time slot. Hardy participated on the ABC1 literary review program First Tuesday Book Club on a regular basis as a panelist or book club member.
In the wake of leaving Triple J in 2010, Strong got back to TV composing, dealing with the Satire Channel promoting industry sitcom 30 Seconds. In October 2010, an article on the Liberal Party government official Christopher Pyne composed by Strong on the ABC The Drum blog webpage was removed because it “neglected to satisfy the guidelines for contention and all around thought assessment”. “For both the attack and for its deeply personal nature,” The Drum editor Jonathan Green issued Pyne a public apology.
In August 2017, it was declared that Solid would join the yearly Melbourne Authors Celebration as the occasion’s Imaginative Chief. With effect from December 2019, she resigned from her three-year contract.
