Marc Yaffee is a Native American comedian, writer, actor, and podcast presenter. Marc started doing stand-up comedy in 1999 after taking a comedy workshop at the Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club in Sacramento, California. Since then, he has performed in 43 states and eleven countries.

Yaffee was born in East L.A., California. Marc was born to a Mexican American mother, Lucina Yaffee (née Chavira), and a Jewish father, Asher ‘Bud’ Yaffee. Only after being found by his birth mother decades later, at the age of 25, did he discover that his biological father was of Mexican Navajo Indigenous origin. Marc grew up in the East San Fernando Valley with his adopted sister, Patty.

Marc Career

Yaffee began his acting career in his 30s. Yaffee has toured in 43 states and 11 countries across four continents. These territories include the Persian Gulf, Germany, South Korea and Japan. Marc has appeared on PBS, FNX, Latino Laugh Festival and Showtime’s “Goinâ Native.” Marc’s comedy special “Marc My Words” (2018) is available on NativeFlix.com. Mark has appeared in the Showtime special Goin’ Native: American Indian Comedy Slam, as well as the PBS specials Cross the Line, SiTV’s The Latino Laugh Festival and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. Mark is also a former writer for George Carlin’s Laugh.com and served five tours entertaining the U.S. military in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

His work at the Club includes Catch a Star, Igloo, Laugh Factory, Underground Comedy and Improv Comedy Club. A member of the Pow Wow Comedy Jam that began in 2004, Mark toured with Native American comedians Vaughn Eaglebear and Howie Miller. The trio are often seen at casino shows, group events, and VIP player parties. Mark is an advocate for promoting Indian parks and tribal tourism. The trio has performed together since 2005 in an event they call “Laugh Lane” and won the National Indian Gaming Association Entertainer of the Year award. Their CD, “Phase 3, Live at the Coeur D’Alene Casino”, was named Comedy CD of the Year at the North American Aboriginal Image Awards.

Marc is the creator and co-host of the comedy show Boomerang, starring Kat Simmons and David Gee, where he shares stories, jokes, and observations about infant development. Yaffee has also toured with Hawaiian-born actor Adam Stone; he is a regular at the Laugh Factory in Reno, Nevada, and Las Vegas, and has also appeared nationally on The Bob & Tom Show. Yaffe was selected and made into a made-for-TV movie in which he portrayed an actor who teaches citizenship to new immigrants. It was never released. The film also stars Gerry Bednorbu (Moog, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Steven Michael Quezada (Agent Gomez, Breaking Bad). The series focuses on Mark’s transition from actor to public school teacher and the special relationship he develops with his immigrant students. Yaffee also attended the premiere of FNX’s (First Nations Experience Network) new event, First Nations Experience. Marc Yaffee is the producer and host of a podcast called “What’s Happening” that started in 2019. The podcast features interviews with people who hold unique world records.
