Despite Cottonmouth’s best efforts to keep the business running, he soon irritated his cousin Mariah Dillard, who murdered him and took over his criminal empire.
Cornell Stokes was born to Jazmine Stokes and her boyfriend Malik, who were overjoyed at the prospect of having a son. When Malik died of a drug overdose when Cornell was still a baby, Jazmine couldn’t handle the burden of being a single parent, so she dropped Cornell off at Mama Mabel’s house, wrapping him in a blanket and placing him in a basket. The burden of raising the young Cornell had therefore fallen to Mariah Stokes, who considered she was too young to be caring for such a small child but was pushed to do so by Mabel. Cornell, like his late father, had developed a remarkable talent for music, particularly the piano.
