Baquero joined Channel 4 in 1995 from local news station NY1 News, where she worked as a daily anchor and reporter for three years. At NY1, Baquero is one of two dozen “video journalists” who research, write, film and edit their own stories. Before joining NY1, Baquero spent five years at local station WCBS; He has worked nearly every part of the newsroom, from desk assistant to investigator, staffer and, most recently, the producer of the daily user “Troubleshooting Filmmaker.” Baquero also shouted “NELY!” He served as co-producer of the film. He has co-produced and written numerous Spanish-language network specials at WCAU in Philadelphia, as well as Telemundo-produced talk shows.

On the WNBC news team, Baquero was named co-anchor of the New York station’s popular weekend special, “Today.” He hosted the show for two years before moving to the station’s evening news.
