She worked for the Echo for around five years, climbing up the ranks to become an education reporter and, later, a health reporter. After a brief stint at the Daily Mirror, she relocated to London in 2001 after landing regular shifts at the Daily Mail. After a year, she was promoted to staff and relocated to Manchester as part of a team of northern correspondents. Liz has been involved in numerous big news events that have generated headlines throughout the world over the last 15 years, including the 7/7 bombings, the Shipman inquiry, Hillsborough inquests, Cumbria floods, General Election campaigns, and the Derek Bird case, and David Bieber manhunts, and some of the region’s biggest murders, including the Crown Court trials of the killers of Garry Newlove, Shafilea Ahmed, April Jones and Rhys Jones.
