Linda Yu is a Chinese-American author and former news anchor. Yu is best known as the co-anchor of WLS-TV’s Eyewitness newscast in Chicago, Illinois. Yu became Chicago’s first Asian-American broadcast journalist in 1979, when she began her journalism career at WMAQ-TV.

In 1979, she began her news career with WMAQ-TV in Chicago. Yu has garnered five local Emmy Awards for her broadcasting efforts, including one for her report on the aftermath of 9/11 in 2001. Yu received a National Gold Medal from the National Conference of Community and Justice for her documentary “The Scars of Belfast” in 1984.Yu began her broadcasting career in 1970 as a writer and producer for KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, and later as a writer for ABC O&O KABC-TV in Los Angeles. Yu grew dissatisfied with WMAQ-TV management in November 1983, and her five-year employment with the station ended in March 1984. Yu joined WLS-TV (ABC 7 Chicago) in April as co-anchor of the station’s 4 p.m. newscast, mostly alongside news anchor Joel Daly, until his retirement in June. Yu also co-anchored the 30-minute 11:30 AM program with Sylvia Perez from 1992 until the hour-long 11 AM newscast was canceled in 2013. Yu won an Emmy in 1987 for Outstanding Achievement in a Regularly Scheduled News Programme, Spot Coverage. Yu and Perez were the first female news anchors in the Chicago market.
