Dr. Hochstein completed his general and trauma surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, between 1990 and 1995. During his time at Parkland Memorial, Dr. Hochstein discovered his true calling: surgery, where he would be able to directly—and somewhat instantly—influence the quality of a patient’s life. This desire fueled Dr. Hochstein’s interest in plastic surgery.
Dr. Hochstein was a chief surgical resident at Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1995. During this time, he wrote scientific papers, some of which were published in the Annuals of Plastic Surgery. He received the University of Miami’s Academic Award for achieving the highest score on the Plastic Surveillance Exam.
He received the University of Miami’s Academic Award for scoring the highest on the Plastic Surgery In-Service Exam (an exam taken by every resident plastic surgeon worldwide). Dr. Hochstein founded a surgical center dedicated to the comprehensive care of his plastic surgery patients in 1998.
