Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is an English interior designer and television personality best known for his role on the BBC show Changing Rooms.

Family – Education
Laurence was born to parents Trefor Llewellyn Bowen and Patricia (née Wilks). Laurence’s father, an orthopedic surgeon at Harley Street and, under the NHS, at St James’ Hospital in Balham, South London, died of leukemia in 1974 at the age of 42. He attended Julians Primary School on Leigham Court Road in Streatham, and his favourite subject was art, particularly needlework. His mother, a schoolteacher, died in 2002. He has a brother called Edward and a sister named Frances. He is of Welsh heritage.
According to his website, Llewelyn-Bowen attended Alleyn’s School in Dulwich before graduating from the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (now a constituent institution of the University of the Arts London) in 1986 with an indeterminate Fine Art degree.
Wife – Children
In April 2007, he, his wife Jackie, and their two daughters, Cecile (born 1995) and Hermione (born 1998), relocated to a 17th-century, grade II listed manor home in Siddington, a small village near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. He and his wife are ambassadors for the charity agency CARE International UK, and they visited Bangladesh’s cyclone-hit areas in February 2008. They also actively support CLIC Sargent, a children’s cancer charity, and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.

Stepping Out

Artisan Furniture
In 2020, Llewelyn-Bowen collaborated with British furniture producer, wholesaler, and dropshipper Artisan Furniture to create a series of handmade, solid wood furniture designs featuring carving, painting, and dark staining. Llewelyn-Bowen’s LUX collection will be offered in both dropship and wholesale quantities.
Interior Design
In 2004, Llewelyn-Bowen created the inside of Greenwich, England’s Inc Bar, which is housed in a disused 1830s music hall. The design includes Larry’s Bar, named after Llewelyn-Bowen, and “the Divan,” a softly lit corner that functions as a make-out area. He has also presented a three-part BBC special Taste (2002) about the history of interior design, and in the autumn of 2005, he began hosting the weekly BBC1 travel show Holiday 2006.
Career
Llewelyn-Bowen introduced the BBC and Station 4 TV series Evolving Rooms. On 14 April 2009 he introduced a narrative on BBC One in the West locale where he went Looking for Britain’s Green and Wonderful Land. The program investigated the dangers to the country lifestyle from metropolitan jerk and the deficiency of nearby administrations.
