While attending school in San Francisco in 2006, he was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in multiple injuries. He crashed on the side of the motorway after hitting a post and going over a 40-foot slope. His left leg was severed below the knee, his right anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament were ripped, his pelvis and bladder were torn in half, seven vertebrae were fractured, his lungs collapsed, many ribs were broken, and he suffered from a serious concussion.
