Kurt Braunohler is a comedian from the United States co-hosts the Bananas podcast on the Exactly Right Podcast Network. He has been on Comedy Central, This American Life, Radiolab, and was previously the host of the comedy game program Bunk on IFC. Along with Kristen Schaal, Braunohler co-created the web series Penelope Princess of Pets. The two work together frequently.

Braunohler was the subject of This American Life’s February 2012 episode 457, “What I Did For Love,” in which he talked about how he introduced the idea of rumspringa into his 13-year monogamous relationship. In October 2011, he and his comedy partner Kristen Schaal made an appearance on the “Loops” edition of Radiolab.
Additionally, in 2009, they hosted “High Five! with Kurt and Kristen” on the Raw Dog Channel of Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Along with co-hosting Emotional Hangs with Joe DeRosa, Braunohler was the host of The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler podcast on the Nerdist network. August 20, 2013, saw the release of Braunohler’s first comedy album, How Do I Land? by Kill Rock Stars. Live recordings of the album were made in Portland, Oregon on February 14, 2013, and in Seattle, Washington on February 13, 2013. In order to promote the album, Braunohler hired a professional pilot in March 2013 to skywrite “How Do I Land?” in Southern California, capping off a successful $4,000 Kickstarter campaign.
Braunohler Career
Kurtbot, a performance project, was Braunohler’s first significant undertaking. There was a website that went along with this series of street humor sketches. With the Chengwin street theater initiative, he achieved further success. Among the many honors he received for his efforts with the ensemble was a choice for “Best Hilarious Insane Guerilla Theatre” by the Village Voice in 2008.
Braunohler started the Neutrino Video Projects in 2004. His work with the group was highly praised, and in 2005 the group went to Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. The Chicago Improv Festival named the Neutrino Video Projects “Improv Ensemble of the Year” in 2004. Braunohler and Kristen started co-hosting Hot Tub in 2005.
Hot Tub, which Braunohler started co-hosting with Kristen Schaal in 2005, won the Time Out NY reader poll for “Best Variety Show of 2005.”
Braunohler starred in a supporting capacity in the critically acclaimed film The Big Sick in 2017. Braunohler was the host of the Independent Film Channel’s improv game show Bunk in 2012. Braunohler has been a roundtable guest on the E! network show Chelsea Lately and an occasional voice actor for Fox’s animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers since 2012. He has also been on John Oliver Presents on Comedy Central. Braunohler was active on Vine and was recognized by Funny or Die as one of the top comedians on the video phone app.Comedy Central hosted Braunohler’s debut television special on March 3, 2017.
