He acquired English as a first-generation American by listening to all-news radio. That fueled his desire to work in journalism. Kevin worked as an overnight radio anchor at WTIC-AM in Hartford, Connecticut, by his junior year in college. While finishing his schooling, he completed almost half a dozen internships. He went to work as a reporter and anchor at WOKV-AM/FM in Jacksonville, Florida, shortly after graduation.
He was a part of multiple Edward R. Murrow and Associated Press awards. He reported for the NFL Network’s SiriusXM station on Florida politics, the termination of NASA’s space program, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kevin assisted in the creation of WNEW-FM, a CBS Radio station in Washington, D.C., in 2012. He covered Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court in addition to his general assignment work.
He returned to New York City a few years later to work as a reporter and anchor for 1010 WINS. It was the station that helped him learn English. He left in 2015 to help develop another new radio station, this time for FOX News on SiriusXM. He was the afternoon anchor and breaking news reporter for the station. He was also a political reporter that covered the 2016 presidential election from beginning to end.
Kevin returned to local news in 2018 as an anchor/reporter for WCBS 880. He began his move to television there, freelancing at CBS2 before joining the staff. Rincon has covered the COVID-19 pandemic, immigration and its impact in the NYC area, multiple elections, and extreme weather throughout his stint at CBS2. He enjoys ice hockey and is a huge Liverpool fan when he is not working.
