Apio is perhaps best known for being the winner of The Great American Comedy Festival, based out of Norfolk, Nebraska. Similar to other comics, like Brian Regan or Eddie Brill, Apio refrains from off-color humor, instead relying on observational comedy, sarcasm, and satire. As a result, he has gained even more recognition as a family friendly comic. Apio came to Seattle, Washington, after graduating from high school, where he eventually settled. Apio eventually became involved in stand-up comedy, where he rose to international prominence after winning the Great American Comedy Festival, where he was immediately inundated with gigs and requests, and Apio exploited his travel experiences in his comedy. He has performed at The Improv, The Comedy Cave, The Orpheum in Sioux Falls, the ACME Comedy Company in Minneapolis, and comedy festivals worldwide, including China, Israel, New Zealand, and Canada. He has also been on stations like A&E and PBS. Apio has published his own CD, Unarmed and Lethargic.
