Kenny Rice is a well-known American sportscaster who reports on horse racing for NBC and covers mixed martial arts on HDNet. He started his career as a disc jockey for WDOC in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, while still in high school. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1980, he worked as the Sports Director for WTVQ-TV in Lexington.

Rice was the nation’s first “special correspondent” for ESPN SportsCenter from 1982 to 1990 and co-wrote “Down the Tight” (1982-1985) and “Wire to Wire” (1998 -2005). Rice was a host and reporter for horse racing programs including “Kentucky Derby Breakfast” and “2Day at the Races” (1997-2006). He was the live host of ESPNU’s college basketball program “Midnight Madness” (2005). He also frequently provides horse racing coverage for the ESPN website.
