Kelly Lange Career

Lange, a model at the time, got into a line at a shopping mall in Buena Park, California, because it appeared “they were giving something away.” What they were handing out turned out to be applications for two positions as “Ladybirds” on KABC radio. The lucky pair would become the area’s first female traffic/weather reporters to patrol in helicopters. Lange was one of two candidates. She was given the 6 a.m.-to-9 a.m. slot and was dubbed “Dawn O’Day.” Lori Ross, a film studio secretary, was chosen for the afternoon shift as “Eve O’Day.” “The two women in their tight-fitting, silver-lamé jumpsuits paved the way for today’s less-exploited women deejays and announcers.”

The panel was asked to guess her work with KABC Radio.
