Kelli Underwood Career
In 2006, Underwood started working as a sports reporter for Ten News and Sports Tonight at Network 10. She took over for Christi Malthouse as a boundary rider when she joined Network Ten’s coverage of the AFL in 2009.
By joining Tim Lane in providing commentary for the 2009 NAB Cup match between Geelong and the Adelaide Crows, Underwood became the first woman to call an AFL match on television. She made history. Her first AFL premiership season match was the Round 16 match between Geelong and Melbourne at Kardinia Park on July 18, 2009, with Anthony Hudson as her co-caller. Through the end of 2011, Underwood provided commentary for Network Ten games in both the commentary box and on the field.
From 2008 to 2016, Underwood hosted and commented on ANZ Championship Netball for Network Ten and later Fox Sports. Underwood joined the redesigned panel show The Back Page on Fox Sports in 2013, where she continues to appear alongside host Tony Squires. She won two Astra Awards for her work on The Back Page and the interview program Breaking Ground, including the 2015 award for Most Outstanding Female Presenter.
