Carter was cast as Sadie Barrett in the 2018 American comedy-drama film Private Life. A middle-aged couple named Richard and Rachel have tried artificial insemination without success before turning to in vitro fertilization. Due to his blockage, Richard is unable to procreate and incurs debt. They interview a social worker and attempt to adopt a child. They establish touch with an adolescent who seems to be pregnant, but the adolescent breaks off communication suddenly, leaving them to assume they were duped emotionally.
They think about implanting Rachel with a donor egg when IVF fails. Sadie, who is close to Richard and Rachel, their niece, consents to give her eggs. They go through with the pre-screening procedure in spite of their initial resistance. Although Sadie gets sick, the egg retrieval is successful, which relieves Richard and Rachel. Thanks to Richard’s assistance, Sadie is able to attend a writing residence, but Rachel acknowledges that she did nothing to support her candidacy. Rachel gets a call to adopt her child nine months later.
Godless
She portrayed Sadie Rose, a widow of La Belle in the Netflix western TV series Godless. Outlaw Frank Griffin and his gang are pursued by Marshal John Cook and his posse to Creede, Colorado, in 1884. They learn that everyone in Creede was slain by Roy Goode, a former member of Frank’s group, who stole money from a derelict train. Roy goes to Alice Fletcher’s ranch for assistance, and she takes care of him there, helping him recover with the aid of her Paiute mother-in-law, Iyovi, and her mixed-race son, Truckee.

Flashbacks depict Roy’s friendship with Frank and the gang after they split up with Lucy Cole.
