Kaye Adams Career

Adams began her media career as a graduate trainee at Central Television, where she specialized in political and news reporting; her first coup was a one-hour interview with Margaret Thatcher. Adams remained focused on hard news for the next few years after joining Scottish Television’s nightly news program, Scotland Today, in early 1988.

She was among the first journalists to arrive on the scene of the Lockerbie bombing in 1988. A chance opportunity to host a discussion show for Scottish Television after its original anchor Sheena McDonald left set her on a new path in 1992. Scottish Women ran for six years under Adams’ direction (1993-99), winning a number of awards and launching Adams’ career as a talk show host.

Adams has also hosted a daytime show called The People Versus, as well as appearing on Have I Got News for You as a panelist and, more recently, as chair. Between 2007 and 2010, Adams was a regular guest host and panelist on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff. Adams narrated the six-part documentary series The Merchant Navy on STV in late 2008.

Adams returned to STV on May 26, 2009, more than 20 years after her first appearance, as a guest co-host on the lifestyle show The Hour with Stephen Jardine. Adams performed four shows. Adams joined a long team of reporters on The One Show in August of that year. Adams, who covered the Lockerbie bombing for STV in 1988, narrated a special documentary for the Scottish television channel, The Lockerbie Bomber: Sent Home to Die, which aired on August 9, 2010. The program looked into the Lockerbie bomber’s conviction as well as the renewed controversy surrounding the Scottish Government’s decision to return him to Libya on compassionate grounds a year before.

She has been a guest presenter on Channel 5’s LIVE with… since 2011. Adams co-hosted the daytime chat show Sunday Scoop with Nadia Sawalha in 2013. Nicola Ibison of Ibison Talent Group represents both Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams as their agent and manager. In 2018, Adams and Nadia Sawalha published Nadia & Kaye: Disaster Chef, a cookbook. Adams joined BBC Radio Scotland in March 2010 to host the daily phone-in show, Call Kaye.

The show ended in 2015, and it was replaced by The Kaye Adams Show, which airs every weekday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Due to her work on Loose Women, Kaye is frequently covered by a guest host, especially on Fridays. Adams appeared on the twentieth series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2022. She was paired with Kai Widdrington and was the first to go.
