Career
At the age of 15, Katie began her career in broadcasting as a part-time radio DJ. She worked her way up the radio ladder while attending Arizona State University, where she was named Fiesta Bowl Princess in 1999–2000. She was employed as a morning show radio producer for KISS-FM in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1998, she worked as an intern at the Sports Fan Radio Network as part of the Association for Women in Sports Media during her collegiate career. She relocated to New York City and started working as a reporter for the MTV political program “Choose or Lose” after realizing that morning radio meant getting up at four in the morning. After that, she was employed by Dallas, Texas, FM radio.
As the producer and host of “True Music” in 2002, Katie became a member of Mark Cuban’s HDNet team. She also hosted “Zippo Hot Tour” in 2005 and “Deadline!” from 2006 until 2012. On July 2, 2012, the channel launched by Mark Cuban changed its name from HDNet to AXS TV. She served as host and executive producer of “The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands” for eight seasons, spanning from 2013 to 2017. For which she was honored with the 2017 CableFAX Program Award for “Best Host-Music” . In addition, Katie helps out the network in a number of hosting capacities. The Top Ten Revealed is an original count-down series that Katie Daryl started creating for AXS TV in 2017. In it, Katie and a rotating panel of experts highlight a variety of music-related subjects, such as the greatest guitar intros and songs from the Vietnam War.
