The Washington Post referred to it as “knowledgeable and laceratingly funny,” and it has since become one of the most popular film podcasts.

The podcast received a five-star rating from Podcast Magazine. The program was a nominee in the 2017 Academy of Podcasters Awards and won the “TV & Film” category in 2016. In the documentary For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Film Criticism, Longworth, who was then a web reviewer for SpoutBlog, discussed the benefits of blogging and how it fosters a conversation with viewers. “I have a Master’s Degree in Film Studies, but I’m no more qualified to blog than a high school student in Vermont,” she continued while speaking about blogging. The New York Times made a statement, “Are print critics really so all-important and sacrosanct with the Web full of debates about all manner of film in places like indiewire.com, cinematical.com and blog.spout.com?”
