Karen Kilgariff is a novelist, comedian, singer, actor, television producer, and podcast host from the United States who has a diverse career. In the early 1990s, she started out as a stand-up comedian before moving on to television acting, most known for her role as a cast member on Mr. Show. She was the head writer of The Rosie Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and The Pete Holmes Show, among other comedic television series for which she has written.

Kilgariff Podcast
Kilgariff and comedian Chris Fairbanks launched the Do You Need A Ride? podcast in 2014. Originally, the entire podcast was recorded in a car as Karen and Chris conversed with their guest while on the road. But these days, they sometimes record at the Exactly Right Studios, citing safety concerns. The true-crime podcast My Favorite Murder, which Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark began in 2016, explores a variety of notorious killings and serial killers. With over 19 million listeners, the podcast has amassed a sizable following base since its launch. They have also performed live My Favorite Murder shows in the United States and other countries.
She co-founded the podcast network Exactly Right alongside Hardstark in 2018, and it currently publishes their podcast in addition to eleven others. Jensen and Holes: The Murder Squad, the network’s first original podcast, premiered at number one in April 2019. Kilgariff and Hardstark collaborated on a memoir, Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered, which was released in 2019.

Ellen DeGeneres hired Kilgariff in 2003 to assist with writing for Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now, her comedy special. Later, Kilgariff opened for DeGeneres on her tour. Kilgariff was then appointed chief writer for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, a daytime talk show that debuted in September 2003. Occasionally, she would make cameos in sketches and other scenes. She also performed with Mary Lynn Rajskub in the comedic duo Girls Guitar Club.
Kilgariff was the chief writer for the Oprah Winfrey Network program The Rosie Show. Later on, she worked as the chief writer for TBS’s The Pete Holmes Show. She also produced Making History on FOX Broadcasting Company and authored and starred in truTV’s Talk Show: The Game Show. In 2017 and 2019, Kilgariff penned four episodes of the comedy-drama Baskets for FX.Live at the Bootleg is a musical comedy album that Kilgariff recorded in 2014.
