During the show’s final challenge, Peter Gilmore challenged the top three contestants Narayan, Campbell, and Chowdhury to recreate two of his own dishes (one savory and one dessert) in 5 hours for 40 points each. Campbell struggled to get all of his ingredients together throughout the cooking session, resulting in a sloppy custard for the savory meal and a dessert that was incomplete on the plate due to a hurried assembly.

Chowdhury’s dishes, on the other hand, were mainly impressive, albeit the texture of her sauce for the savory dish lacked balance. While Narayan’s squid entrée received good comments, his dessert was slightly under-baked despite having all of the ingredients in place. Campbell and Chowdhury were outperformed by Narayan, who received 40 points for the savory dish and 35 points for the dessert. Chowdhury received 114 points overall, Campbell received 124 points, and Narayan received 125 points overall, winning the program by one point. Narayan is the second contender of Indian heritage to win MasterChef Australia’s top prize, following prison officer Sashi Cheliah.

They also began to provide a transition house for women who had been victimized as a result of human trafficking.
