Your Local Weather Authority welcomed Justin as a new member. Roanoke drew him in because of its natural beauty as well as the challenges he expected to face. Growing up in central North Carolina, Justin was exposed to a wide spectrum of weather, from hurricanes and summer heatwaves to winter snow and ice storms. The 20-inch snowstorm that hit Raleigh in January 2000 was the most memorable experience in his life! Justin’s interest in weather grew to the point where he wanted to pursue it as a career. He also obtained a minor in environmental science while at Raleigh. Justin received valuable experience as an intern in the weather department of Time Warner Cable News. Because they were both in the same NC State class.
Justin previously worked as a broadcast meteorologist for WWAY in Wilmington, North Carolina, and KTTC in Rochester, Minnesota. He’s seen it all as a forecaster, from blizzards and severe weather in Minnesota to covering many hurricanes in coastal North Carolina. Justin’s station provided 83.5 hours of uninterrupted coverage during the storm’s build-up, peak, and aftermath, making it a particularly remarkable storm that he covered.
