She is best recognized for her roles in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie and the 2013 ABC comedy series Back in the Game. Totah garnered positive reviews for her performance in the 2016 film Other People. She appeared in the short-lived NBC comedy series Champions in 2018. Totah began her career performing male characters, but in August 2018, she publicly came out as a trans woman, changing her first name to Josie. Beginning in 2013, she starred in the Disney Channel Original Series Jessie as Stuart Wooten, a youngster who has a crush on series regular Zuri Ross. Totah has appeared as a guest star on the television shows New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, and Liv and Maddie.
