Career

During his time at The Evergreen State College, Blue began doing stand-up comedy at open mic events. Blue’s self-deprecating humor was well received by audiences, and he began to establish himself as a comedian. He was the 2002 Comedy Works New Faces contest winner. He has made multiple appearances on Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central. Blue won $10,000 for taking first place in the 2004 Royal Flush Comedy Competition during the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. He was the first comedian to do stand-up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, having won the 2006 season of NBC’s reality show Last Comic Standing. His other television credits include multiple appearances on Fox, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC in addition to Live with Regis and Kelly and Comics Unleashed.

He starred in Feast III: The Happy Finish, a low-budget horror movie from 2009. Josh placed thirteenth among comics in Comedy Central’s 2010 Stand-up Comedy Showdown. Blue had an appearance in the “The Psychoanalyst” music video by Boulder band Rose Hill Drive. He was the opening act of Ron White’s 2013 Las Vegas Salute to the Troops. In 2014, Blue also starred in the sports-themed comedy 108 Stitches. Blue tried out for season sixteen of America’s Got Talent in 2021. He was able to move on to the live rounds after receiving four yeses from the judges. Blue finished the season in third place, behind magician Dustin Tavella and aerialist Aidan Bryant. In 2023, Blue appeared on America’s Got Talent: All-Stars. In his round of the preliminaries, he placed third behind former winners Brandon Leake and Kodi Lee.
