Jonica T. Gibbs is an American comedian and actor played the lead role of Hattie on the BET sitcom Twenties. She was a student at SCAD and held a number of jobs, including substitute teaching.

Career
2015 saw Gibbs go to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in acting, one year after she started performing stand-up comedy. She founded a production firm in L.A. with her close friend Rashonda Joplin, where they worked on the online series No More Comics. After filming and funding two episodes, they launched a crowdsourcing initiative to gather funds for the remaining eight episodes. To market the campaign, they got in touch with Lena Waithe and other Black television creatives. Gibbs’s first audition was for Twenties, which Waithe invited her to attend.Waithe’s experiences served as a loose basis for Gibbs’ casting as Hattie, a broke gay aspiring TV writer. Gibbs has discussed the importance of portraying one of the few lesbians in American culture who is macho and out of the center. Gibbs has a recurring role in Good Trouble and the scripted podcast The Left Right Game. Gibbs starred in the 2022 thriller Fresh.
