Die Hard with a Vengeance and Jumanji, both of which were released in 1995, were his next two ventures. With the help of his wife, famous Hollywood producer Gale Anne Hurd, Hensleigh made his directorial debut with The Punisher in 2004. Based on the Marvel Comics character The Punisher, he co-wrote the script with Michael France. The film was shot on a tight timetable and on a cheap budget.

Hensleigh’s credits include a Gemini Man picture and Jumanji and The Punisher sequels. As of October 3, 2008, Hensleigh was working on the AMC series Red Mars, based on the novel of the same name. Kill the Irishman, based on the book To Kill the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia, was written and directed by Hensleigh in 2011.
