Moyes’ 2012 novel Me Before You was rejected by Hodder & Stoughton, and he sold it to Penguin. It sold six million copies, reached number one in nine countries, and resurrected her backlist, resulting in three of her novels appearing on the New York Times bestseller list at the same time. Moyes would later follow up Me Before You with two sequels: After You in 2015 and Still Me in 2018. In 2013, it was announced that Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter had been hired to write a Me Before You adaptation.
