Kee believes that God called him to be a preacher when he was on a trip to Michigan with his choir. When Kee became an ordained priest, he was in his mid-twenties. While ministering in Ohio in 1995, he had a divine vision and decided to establish a Fellowship Center in Charlotte that could minister to the local community. He became and remains the senior pastor of the New Life Fellowship Center, which he founded. The church is in the same neighborhood where he used to live a life of violence and drugs.
In the mid-1980s, Kee founded the New Life Community Choir, or “NLCC,” a community choir in Charlotte. The choir gained popularity over time and has continued to perform throughout the region. Kee’s own children are also in the choir. Kee formed the Victory in Praise Music and Arts Seminar Mass Choir, or “V.I.P.”, in 1990 to put together numerous churches, songwriters, musicians, and choir directors from around the world. Kee has been involved in the music business for over 20 years. He is best known for his soulful husky voice and for fusing traditional gospel with the modern contemporary gospel. Kee was honored with induction into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2007. “The Prince of Gospel Music,” as Kee is also known.
