John David Hannah is a Scottish actor who has appeared in films and on television. He rose to prominence in 1994 with Four Weddings and a Funeral, for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. In addition, he has acted in films such as Sliding Doors and The Mummy trilogy.

He went to Heathery Knowe Primary School, then Claremont High School in East Kilbride, before beginning an apprenticeship as an electrician. He was a member of the East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club in East Kilbride. After completing his apprenticeship, he entered the famous Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama at the recommendation of a coworker.

In the American post-apocalyptic drama television series The Last of Us, he played Dr. Newman, an epidemiologist who warns about the threat of fungi during a talk show in 1968. Doctor Newman was an epidemiologist who appeared on a talk show segment with Murray and Dr. Schoenheist in 1968. Newman disagreed with Schoenheist’s notion that influenza was the biggest menace to humanity, claiming that fungus was the greater hazard.
Unlike viruses and bacteria, he felt that fungi had a distinct life cycle characterized by host control. He believed that there was no natural immune response to fungal infection, and that science had yet to develop a way to eliminate or prevent it. He felt that the only defense against fungal infection was that no known fungus could thrive in a host with a body temperature above 94°. Fungi like Cordyceps could adapt to survive in warm-blooded hosts if the Earth’s temperature rises significantly, resulting in a pandemic and extinction.

Hannah appeared in the Black Mirror episode Loch Henry as Richard King.When Dawn and Simon Challis went missing, Richard and his wife were living near Loch Henry with their son Stuart. Richard instructed Kenneth to conduct an investigation to ensure that Iain Adair did not commit the murders. Iain shot Kenneth in the shoulder and claimed he and his parents were murdered. Later, Richard discovered that Stuart was assisting Davis and his girlfriend Pia in creating a documentary about the murders.
He was enraged with Stuart for releasing information about the case and thought no one should make a movie about it. While filming inside the Adair residence, Richard collided with Stuart, Pia, and Davis. He then agreed to be videotaped discussing the crimes for Davis’ documentary, which took on a new twist after Pia died trying to escape his mother, who also killed herself after concealing all evidence proving she and Kenneth were the true masterminds.

Transhumanist Holden Radcliffe was sacked from GT Agrochemical and hired by Hive to duplicate the Kree experiment. He was saved by S.H.I.E.L.D. after creating the Primitives. He discreetly collaborated with Leo Fitz on Life-Model Decoys. After reading the Darkhold, Radcliffe became corrupted and plotted to steal it with the help of Aida and Melinda May. He forged an alliance with the Watchdogs, but was assassinated by Aida, forcing him to return to reality.
