Jim Bohannon is a television and radio presenter from the United States. He is best known for anchoring The Jim Bohannon Show, a nationally syndicated late-night radio talk show on the Westwood One Network. He also presented America in the Morning, a nationally syndicated radio news show, for 31 years before retiring in December 2015.

They left the Washington area in 1980 to work mornings at WCFL in Chicago. The pair, however, eventually divorced. His former wife, Camille Bohannon, became a well-known broadcaster in her own right, working for the Associated Press and United Press International for many years.
Bohannon and Annabelle, his second wife, went to high school together but lost touch after graduation. They reconnected thirty-three years later during a book signing in Columbia, Missouri, and married on August 21, 1998. Annabelle Bohannon was a regular babysitter for Claire McCaskill and her sisters as a teenager in Lebanon.

Bohannon had a number of radio gigs in Washington, D.C. after leaving the Army before getting a job at WCFL in Chicago. Beginning in 1985, Bohannon aired his own Saturday evening call-in show on Mutual, where he was a regular guest host on The Larry King Show. When King’s show switched from late nights to afternoons in 1993, he moved to Westwood One/Mutual. It was an instant rating hit, airing one day before the fifteenth anniversary of King’s Mutual debut.
He describes himself as a “militant moderate” who is a Democratic primary voter. From 10:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Eastern Time, The Jim Bohannon Show airs Monday through Friday. Bohannon also presents The Offbeat, a daily Westwood One radio show. Bohannon created and is the main force behind National Freedom of Information Day, which he initially proposed to the Society of Professional Journalists in 1979. On weekdays at 5 a.m. Eastern Time, John Trout will resume Bohannon’s one-hour America in the Morning feature.

Bohannon enrolled in the United States Army after graduating from Southwest Missouri State in 1966 and served until 1970. His four years of service with the Army Security Agency (ASA) included a tour of duty with the 199th Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam War. Bohannon was stationed at Long Binh with the 303rd ASA Battalion as part of the II Field Force headquarters during the Tet Offensive in early 1968. Bohannon was posted to the Washington, D.C. region after completing his Vietnam tour and was released in 1970.
