Nicolini began working for Long Island radio station WBLI in 1997. She began working on her bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts at the New York Institute of Technology in 2000, while still reporting for LI News Tonight. She worked as an arena announcer for the New York Islanders and a dancer for the New York Dragons Arena Football team beginning in 2001. Nicolini quickly became an on-camera traffic reporter for Long Island’s Metro & Traffic, Weather Channel, and News 12/Long Island. She was crowned Miss Long Island in 2002, but her title was removed on her way to Miss New York after it was revealed that she posed nude for Playboy in 2001 in their “College Girls” Special Edition.
Nicolini competed in the 2003 Fox reality television show Married by America, where she won but did not marry. Nicolini took part in the Pussycat Doll tryouts on WPIX-TV’s morning newscast in August 2006. Before becoming a reporter, Nicolini worked as a model. In 2001, she unsuccessfully auditioned for the role of Vampirella’s official live action model. She played minor roles in four feature films and six television episodes, including HBO’s Sex and the City and NBC’s Law & Order. Nicolini worked as a daily morning traffic reporter for WPIX between 2004 and 2011. Nicolini began working as an entertainment reporter for WNYW Fox 5 in 2011. She previously worked as a traffic/entertainment anchor for PIX11 Morning News since 2004.
In addition to delivering traffic (frequently from the helicopter Air 11), Nicolini interviewed prominent figures in the entertainment sector. She also worked as a fill-in anchor, weathercaster, and feature reporter. At WPIX, she and Marvin Scott spent Christmas vacations in Iraq with local service members in 2009 and 2010 to help reconnect warriors with their families via satellite. In order to continue her goodwill mission, she spent the Christmas in Norfolk, Virginia, with the Navy, where she reported live and reunited sailors with their families. She is a strong supporter of various charities, including the John Theissen Children’s Foundation, Little Shelter Animal Rescue, Alliance for Lupus Research, PETA, The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, National Institute of Natural Sciences, and The Arthritis Foundation.
Nicolini worked as a traffic reporter and fill-in host for WLNY-TV’s Live From The Couch in October 2013. Following that, he worked as a traffic reporter for CBS 2 News This Morning on WCBS-TV. Nicolini announced in October 2014 that she was expecting a child. Nicolini returned to WPIX in the spring of 2017, this time as traffic reporter for the station’s daily morning program. As of October 2017, Jill might be heard reporting traffic on 1010AM WINS Radio.
