Prior to joining the anchor desk, Hubbard worked as a Chicago-based journalist for NewsOne, ABC News’ affiliate news service. More than 200 affiliates and clients in the United States and throughout the world rely on NewsOne for live and packaged news reports. Hubbard joined the network in the spring of 2007, covering politics, the economy, extreme weather, and breaking news. He recently covered many major topics for NewsOne, including the horrific campus shootings at Northern Illinois University and the succession of tornadoes that rocked the southern United States last month[when?]. Hubbard formerly worked as a reporter and anchor at KDVR-TV in Denver, where he covered the fight against illegal immigration.

He headed to the Mexican border to document the controversial Minuteman Project’s efforts to block illegal immigrants from entering the United States. Battle for the Border, an award-winning documentary about the subject, was written, produced, and reported by Hubbard. Hubbard worked at KMBC-TV in Kansas City from 1998 to 2004, where he covered several high-profile national stories. After the Space Shuttle Columbia accident, he reported from Texas and traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana for the execution of Timothy McVeigh, the convicted Oklahoma City bomber. Eye for an Eye, an award-winning documentary on McVeigh’s execution, was co-produced, co-written, and led by Hubbard. Hubbard co-anchored ABC’s early morning news shows World News Now and America This Morning with Vinita Nair from March 2008 to July 2010. Hubbard left ABC News on May 20, 2011, and returned to KDVR-TV and its sister station KWGN-TV as a news anchor.
