In the 1960s, she worked as a freelance model and frequently accompanied her sister Pattie to modeling assignments. Pattie met the Beatles, various bands led by Eric Clapton, and other major British rock acts as a result of her friendship with George Harrison. Boyd inspired Donovan and Mick Jagger to write songs about him as a rock star muse. She worked in London at the Beatles’ short-lived retail venture, Apple Boutique.
