Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a wealthy Jewish-American housewife, embarks on a stand-up comedy career in 1958 after her husband Joel abandons her following a disappointing performance at The Gaslight Cafe. She meets comedian Lenny Bruce and discreetly practices her abilities at the Gaslight Café.
Midge experiences discrimination and blacklisting in New York bars, but she eventually gets a chance as the opening act for Shy Baldwin’s tour. After their divorce, Midge and Joel pursue new relationships and start a nightclub in Chinatown. Midge is fired after casually mentioning Shy’s homosexuality during a set. She becomes the humorous emcee at the Wolford burlesque club, and Lenny Bruce helps her regain her confidence. The plot takes place between the 1960s and the 2000s, with Midge rising to prominence as a comedian while dealing with personal troubles and many marriages.
Jason Ralph The Magicians
Ralph played Quentin Coldwater in The Magicians. He also played a different version of Quentin Coldwater in the episode Twenty-Three. Quentin Coldwater, B.A., is a New York magician who attended Brakebills University. Quentin has always been on the outside, peering in. He’s shy, hesitant, and overthinks everything.
He’s the type of guy who pins from afar (particularly for his childhood best friend, Julia). Quentin realizes that magic is more than simply card tricks, and that with practice and attention, he can master it. After losing Alice, he begins on a journey to reclaim his love, negotiating with dragons, battling gods, robbing banks, and saving a kingdom. However, their actions force them to save magic or face the prospect of reverting to a dreary existence.
He played the Lamprey in the episode The Losses of Magic. Lampreys are tiny organisms with scaleless, elongated bodies and toothed, funnel-shaped sucking mouths. Magical Lampreys seem identical to conventional Lampreys, but they are larger, lack eyes, and can walk on land.
Lampreys are parasites that can infect and lay eggs in the bodies of others. They have extremely flexible bodies that can fit through practically any aperture, including human orifices and even skin. However, this can be avoided simply surrounding oneself in plastic. While possessing someone, Lampreys can acquire their information and detect the health of their body.
In The Magicians’ episode Word, Bond plays Alice Quinn, a gifted and natural magician who meets Quentin Coldwater at Brakebills. Alice, who was originally shy, warms up to Coldwater after investigating the death of her brother Charlie. She gets more wicked as a result of her lack of Shade and understanding of magical laws. After magic disappears, Alice returns to Brakebills and seeks assistance from the library in completing her work on a Grand Unified Theory of Magic.
