Jason began his career at WBKB-TV in Alpena, where he worked on the dawn side for just over a year, first as a weekend sports anchor/weekday sports reporter, and later as the sports director. Prior to that, he interned at 1) WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C., where he covered major league baseball, particularly the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals; 2) WEYI-TV 25 in Clio, where he mostly worked in news; 3) WKTV 2 in Utica, NY, where he covered sports; and 4) WSTM-TV NBC 3 in Syracuse, NY, where he covered sports.
Jason has volunteered for the MDA, co-hosting the Jerry Lewis Telethon at WBKB for the whole local segment. He’s also been a keynote speaker at SVSU Scholarship Recognition Programs and the celebrity auctioneer at the Cardinal Cabaret, a spring benefit for the athletic department.
Jason is a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society and the Upsilon Delta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon at SVSU. While at TV5, Jason created the “Fielder’s Choice” series of sports stories. He takes up sporting challenges from the audience in them. For his “Fielder’s Choice” story, in which he was challenged by a teenage female archer, he earned a 2008 Michigan Associated Press Award for best feature story.
