She unwillingly joins the New York City Police Department’s Queens homicide section when her former boyfriend and partner, Lieutenant Al Burns, requests assistance in solving a case. The move allows her to try to figure out the one thing she can’t remember: what occurred on the day her sister was murdered. Poppy Montgomery, the series’ primary actress, used to narrate the opening speech.
United We Fall
She portrayed Sandy Ryan, Bill’s neurotic mother who moved in with him as he recovered from an illness. She now lives with the family and takes every opportunity to question his parenting methods. A couple with young children and overzealous extended family allows their husband’s judgmental mother to move in with them.
Bill and Jo are young parents with an infant daughter, Lulu, and an older daughter, Emily, who is struggling in school because she is unable to make friends. Bill’s mother, Sandy, and Jo’s brother, Chuy, both advise Bill and Jo that they are failing their daughter as parents and must take responsibility. In reaction, the pair decides to adopt a “positive” attitude and dismiss anyone who criticizes their parenting methods.
When Emily’s instructor compliments her on her critical thinking abilities, Bill asks Sandy and Chuy to drinks so he can brag, but the evening takes a turn for the worse when Emily unexpectedly needs to go to the hospital. A social worker interviewing Jo indicates that she is a careless mother, causing her to snap and go on a diatribe about how difficult parenting is. On the way home, a cop pulls Bill over and tests him for drunk driving; despite this, Bill and Jo conclude that they are happy with the way they raise their children.
3rd Rock from the Sun
She appeared as Mary Albright in the American television sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. The show also draws amusement from its mimicking of all human anthropological missions, including their assumptions of superiority to the “natives” and their inability to distinguish themselves from the natives. Dr. Mary Albright is an anthropology professor at the fictional Pendelton State University, and she discusses and works on many of the topics that the four aliens face. Furthermore, as they become more immersed in human society, these four alien researchers take on the appearance of joyriders.
