In addition, he made appearances in the television shows Bad Hair, Texas Rangers, The Rules of Attraction, Formosa Betrayed, and Varsity Blues. The son of Melinda (née Weber), a former dancer and gymnastics instructor, and James William Van Der Beek, a former minor league baseball pitcher and executive of a cellular phone business, Beek was born in Cheshire, New Haven County, Connecticut. He has some Dutch ancestry; the meaning of his last name is “from the creek”. On a scholarship, he studied at Drew University and sang in an all-male a cappella group. However, he left the group when Dawson’s Creek was picked up for television.

Beek CSI: Cyber
In CSI: Cyber, he plays Senior FBI Field Agent Elijah Mundo. Mundo, a former U.S. Marine with expertise in weapons, vehicles, bombs, and battlefield forensics, is assigned to Ryan’s Cyber division. Elijah filed for divorce from his wife after a brief separation, but the two have since gotten back together.
Because he plays video games a lot, he is well aware of the risks associated with using the internet. Compared to his colleagues, Mundo is a field agent who uses far more of his hands when questioning and holding suspects. After learning that his father had cancer during the second season, Mundo confided in a barmaid who later started to pursue him. Russell shoots her and kills her in “Legacy”. Elijah is a single dad.
The show centers on an FBI Special Agent team investigating cybercrimes in North America under the direction of Deputy Director Avery Ryan, a cyber shrink and Ph.D. behavioral psychologist. Along with Elijah Mundo, Daniel Krumitz, Raven Ramirez, Brody Nelson, and D.B. Russell—a left-wing Sherlock Holmes and Crime Scene Investigator—they collaborate with one another. The team’s primary goal is to solve crimes involving the internet, including blackmail, hacking, cyber theft, murders, and sexual offenses. Avery Ryan and D.B. Russell are the Deputy Directors of the FBI’s Cyber Crime division.
Pose
He appeared as Matt Bromley, Stan’s kingpin boss in the American drama television series Pose. “The juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York City at that time” is the focus of Pose, which is set in 1987–1998. It explores the emergence of the yuppie milieu, HIV, the world of African-American and Latino ball culture, and the downtown social and literary scene. Following a generally positive reaction, the first season was nominated for multiple awards, including the Golden Globes for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Actor – Television Series Drama for Billy Porter.
As the first out homosexual Black male to be nominated for and win in an Emmy lead acting category, Porter won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2019. At the same ceremony, the series received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
Vampirina
