James D’Arcy is an English actor and film director. He is known for his portrayals of Howards Stark’s butler, Edwin Jarvis, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series Agent Carter and the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, and murder suspect Lee Ashworth in the second season of the ITV series Broadchurch.

According to sources, the actor’s father Richard died when he was a child. His mother, Caroline, was a nurse. She raised D’Ary and his sister Charlotte in Fulham London. In 1991, James D’Ary went to Australia for a year. He worked in the drama department of school in Perth. When he returned to London he applied for drama school.
