Pinkett was named after her mother’s favorite soap opera star, Jada Rowland. Her mother’s side of the family is Jamaican and Bajan, while her father’s side is African-American. Robsol Pinkett Jr., the owner of a construction company, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, the chief nurse at an inner-city clinic in Baltimore, are her parents. Jada Pinkett Smith Husband
While attending Duke University in the early 1990s, Pinkett Smith dated Grant Hill, a former basketball player. Pinkett Smith acknowledged a “entanglement” with Alsina during their divorce, albeit without his consent, on July 10 at a Red Table Talk segment that featured her spouse. Alsina mistook Pinkett Smith’s statement that she and her husband had “separated amicably” for consent. After ending her romance with Alsina, she eventually reconciled with her husband and said she hasn’t spoken to him since. On the Internet, Pinkett Smith’s use of the word “entanglement” became widely shared. Will Smith said in 2021 that Pinkett Smith “never believed in conventional marriage” and that the two of them had had extramarital affairs. In October 2023, Pinkett Smith revealed that she and Smith had been separated since 2016, but that they had no plans to legally divorce.

Commercial

The picture was both critically and commercially successful, earning $217.8 million worldwide. She played Gloria, a tough, assertive, but sweet hippopotamus, in the computer-animated movie Madagascar (2005). Tom McGrath, one of the film’s directors, said they noticed all these features in her voice when they listened to her. Despite a mixed response from reviewers, the picture was a commercial success, grossing $532 million worldwide, and becoming one of the greatest movies of 2005.
She appeared in the 2007 drama Reign Over Me, alongside Adam Sandler, Don Cheadle, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland, as the wife of an affluent dentist. Entertainment Weekly termed the film a “strange, black-and-blue therapeutic drama equally mottled with likable good intentions and agitating clumsiness” and found Pinkett Smith “graceful” in it.
In 2008, Pinkett Smith played a lesbian author in the all-female comedy The Women, alongside Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, and Eva Mendes. Despite its commercial success, The Women was criticized by reviewers, and Pinkett Smith received a Golden Raspberry Award nomination for Worst Actress for her performance. Her directorial debut was the drama The Human Contract (2008), in which she co-wrote and starred as the sister of a prosperous but unhappy businessman alongside Paz Vega and Idris Elba. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2008. The popularity of Madagascar prompted Pinkett Smith to reprise her role as Gloria in the 2008 sequel Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which grossed $603 million at the international box office.

Pinkett Smith founded her own fashion label, Maja, in 1994, following the launch of her music firm, 100% Women Production. The apparel line, which is largely offered through small catalogs, consists of women’s T-shirts and skirts adorned with the slogan “Sister Power”. Pinkett Smith and her husband Will Smith co-created the UPN/The CW television series All of Us in 2003.
Pinkett Smith’s first children’s book, Girls Hold Up This World, was published in 2005 to encourage girls to feel powerful and empowered enough to change the world. In 2005, she invested $10 million in Carol’s Daughter, Lisa Price’s cosmetic goods company. In 2015, the Smiths became founding investors in an energy storage firm. Pinkett-Smith makes films through jointly held production companies under Overbrook Entertainment and Westbrook Inc., which was acquired by Mark Gillespie’s Three Six Zero in 2019, diversifying the talent management organization.
