On the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, Young played Rick Forrester from December 31, 1997, to September 15, 1999. In 1999, he received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Dramatic Series. Afterwards, Young spent three years on General Hospital playing Lucky Spencer, from February 25, 2000, until February 10, 2003. People magazine dubbed him the “Sexiest Soap Star” in 2001. General Hospital

Early in 2000, Jackson expressed his desire to return to the character, but his schedule did not permit it. As a result, on February 25, 2000, Jacob Young was hired in the role, and he stayed with the show until February 10, 2003. After that, on February 20, 2003, Greg Vaughan assumed the position and remained in it until October 20, 2009, when Jackson returned to the role as Lucky on October 27, 2009, and remained there until December 23, 2011. From July 6 to July 14, 2015, Jackson appeared briefly again as Lucky as a part of Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) farewell narrative. Coming back in the summer of 2024 as Lucky is Jackson.
In 1993, eleven-year-old actor Jonathan Jackson took on the role of Lucky. The series was finally set in 1999, despite reports of shoddy contract negotiations; Jackson’s contract was temporarily extended to maintain the character’s popular romance. He was free to depart under the terms of his contract if he was cast in a feature picture, so he took off in April 1999 to film pre-recorded parts. Jackson expressed interest in taking on the job again in the beginning of 2000, but his schedule made it impossible.
He proposed a brief comeback that would coincide with co-star Rebecca Herbst’s (who portrayed Elizabeth Webber’s love interest) exit. Herbst was intrigued, but the program decided to stick with the characters on paint.
