She traveled to Clarksburg, West Virginia, after college to begin her first career in television, anchoring WBOY’s weekend newscast. From Miami, Clarksburg, a small coal-mining town, constituted a tremendous cultural transition. The New Year’s Eve Y2K “crisis” was the first story she covered. Snowstorms were common during her time there, and this Florida girl still can’t believe she traveled those snow-covered roads and mountains alone in quest of her stories. She went on to her next job at WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia, where she oversaw daily weather forecasts and entertainment stories in Star City.
Jacey was in charge of anchoring and reporting from the field for the weekend weathercasts. During her stint at WZTV, she spent a week in South Carolina going through boot camp alongside Marine recruits for a special series. Local 10 issued a summons to return home. She’s spent the last 15 years reporting and anchoring, as well as covering weather, traffic, the Miami Heat’s NBA Finals run, and more hurricanes than she can count. She is passionate about animals and works closely with all of South Florida’s rescue organizations, especially the Humane Society of Broward County, where she is a board member of PAWS. She also serves on the board of directors of Zoo Miami.
Jacey is so passionate about animal rights that she went vegan to “live the talk” and defend all creatures, not just cats and dogs. She also completely embraces the term “tree hugger,” devoting much of her time and energy to environmental activities, including driving her trusty Prius. Jacey, a passionate environmentalist, strives to make a difference in the preservation of our planet, and she enjoys reporting on the ocean, reefs, beaches, parks, and alternative energy sources in South Florida. Jacey spends most of her leisure time diving, exercising on land, reading at home, writing her blog whenever the mood strikes, and helping animals wherever she is.
