When Lewis was a kid, he recalls KTVF-TV and KFRB Radio (now KCBF, I suppose) sharing space in the Northward building downtown. Late at night, he would sneak into the KTVF studio and hurl paper airplanes around, hoping that Augie Hiebert (the show’s originator) wouldn’t notice. His main experience has been in radio, and he began working for his father at KAYY when he was 14 years old (now Magic 101.1). Since then, he’s worked at KAYY until 1992, then at Cordova’s KLAM-AM, which he and his wife bought in 1994.
They bought both stations in 1997 after they kept KCDV-FM on the air in Cordova (would you believe Augie came down for the launch??). Lewis is glad for the chance to work with such a remarkable group of individuals. The crew at Newscenter 11 is dedicated to their work, and we hope that all of us, newcomers and veterans alike, can continue to serve Fairbanks with the dedication and integrity that our community deserves.
