Carey began his career at FOX 26 News as a general assignment reporter, but he has now evolved into the anchor of his own news program, Isiah Factor Uncensored. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and began watching television at a young age. He had his first appearance in front of the camera at the age of five, on WVLA-weekly TV’s local series Thought for the Day.
But it wasn’t until 1978 that Isiah realized he wanted to be a TV reporter as a third-grader. That’s when a local television journalist talked to his class, inspiring Isiah to apply for a summer job at a Baton Rouge television station. He got the job and worked at that station every summer, for no credit, until he went away to college. He was already a news anchor and reporter for Baton Rouge’s WXOK-AM radio station before graduating from Southern University.
Isiah was the News Director and Anchor at KQXL-AM and WYCT-FM by 1990, where he oversaw a small news team. Isiah earned his first serious TV job as a reporter and host of a public affairs talk program at WVLA in the same year. He returned to WAFB-TV in 1991, the same station where he had shadowed as a third grader. He stayed for four years there. In September 2001, he joined KRIV-TV.
