Nancy’s eldest son, Silas Andrew Botwin (Guinard), was born in 1989. Judah’s passing upset him, and he took his anger out on everyone by misbehaving and abusing drugs. With his family, Silas relocates to Ren Mar, where he begins cultivating marijuana under the moniker “Head Cheese Sandwich.” He splits from Rad’s mother Lisa and joins Doug in opening a cannabis shop. As Doug’s romantic life interferes with their career, the tensions increase. In an attempt to receive his cut of the company, Silas resigns, but Dean betrays him in support of Celia’s proposal.
Nancy makes an effort to convince Silas to go to Europe in order to shield him from her hazardous lifestyle. With the intention of keeping his brothers safe, he declines. After being appalled by Shane’s behavior in Season 6, Silas makes the decision to part ways with the family. After a while, he decides to follow his family to Deerborn, Michigan, where he finds out that Nancy cheated on Judah and that his mother had a boyfriend in high school named Lars.
