Hill Harper is a writer and actor from the United States. He is best known for his roles in CSI: NY as Dr. Sheldon Hawkes, Limitless as Agent Spelman Boyle, and The Good Doctor as Dr. Marcus Andrews. Harper’s first television role was as a recurring character on the Fox series Married… with Children in 1993, while also making his film debut in the short film Confessions of a Dog. With Spike Lee’s Get on the Bus (1996), he had his first acting role in a feature film.

He made his feature film debut in Spike Lee’s Get on the Bus (1996), playing a UCLA film student riding a bus to the Million Man March in Washington, D.C. He went on to show off his versatility in films like Christopher Scott Cherot’s Hav Plenty (1997) and Lee’s He Got Game (1998), in which he played an egotistical pop-soul singer.
His profile rose as a result of roles in films ranging from Beloved (1998) to the independent romantic comedy Loving Jezebel (1999) to The Skulls (2000). Harper’s most acclaimed work came in Jordan Walker-Pearlman’s The Visit (2000), an independent drama in which he starred as an AIDS-stricken prisoner attempting to rebuild his life. Harper played “Hard Rock” in the Off-Broadway production of ToasT. The play (produced by Lemon Andersen and co-starring Keith David) is set in the Attica Prison during the 1971 prison riot and tells the stories of its inmates through poetic prose. Harper played “Rooftop” in the Off-Broadway production of Our Lady of 121st Street. Harper was named national spokesman for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law on February 22, 2016. He also founded the Manifest Your Destiny Foundation, which works to empower underserved youth through mentorship, scholarship, and grant programs. Harper investigated the effects of skin care products on a person’s system after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This prompted him to launch Be The Architect, an all-natural personal care line for men and women.
